Maximum Health Savings Account (HSA) contributions for 2024

The maximum contribution for health savings accounts (HSA's) will see one of the biggest increases ever for 2024. The following information applies to plan years that begin on or after


January 1, 2024: 

  • If you are enrolled in self-only coverage, your maximum contribution is $4,150

  • If you are enrolled in family coverage, your maximum contribution is $8,300


The catch-up contribution for participants 55 and older remains unchanged at an extra $1,000.


In 2024, a high deductible health plan (HDHP) will be defined as such if: 

  • Enrolled in self-only coverage and the deductible is not less than $1,600 and annual out of pocket expenses do not exceed $8,050

  • Enrolled in family coverage and the deductible is not less than $3,200 and annual out of pocket expenses do not exceed $16,100
