Is your Careers Page attractive to candidates?

In the current job market, employers should have a simple, easy to use application process. Appcast, an industry leader in using technology to find the right candidates, conducted a survey in 2021 that revealed 67% of candidates were applying to jobs from a mobile device as opposed to a laptop or desktop computer. This is an increase from 51% in 2019. Knowing that almost 70% of candidates are now applying for jobs on the go, how can employers leverage this information?

The best test is to apply for the job yourself. Is there anything that is confusing or unclear? Are you able to upload your resume easily? A survey conducted by Career Builder found that 60% of job seekers will stop mid-application if the process is tedious or difficult to complete. You may be missing out on qualified applicants that aren’t able to complete the process through their mobile device.

Your Careers page should be easily accessible on your company website. Do candidates have to search for the list of open positions? Consider moving this to the first page that your website visitors see. You can also include a passive resume submission to allow candidates to share their interest in your company even if there is not a current opening they qualify for. Reach out to our team for examples.

Employee testimonials can also have a positive impact. No one knows what is it like to work for your organization better than your current team. Have them share insights and why they like working there. Another idea is to include a “share with a friend” option. This allows candidates who are actively applying to share your organization with a friend who may be passively looking.

You Careers page should be a reflection of your company and your culture. Include images from team events, a video message from the CEO, or testimonials from current employees about why they like working at your company. This is your pitch to candidates to share why they want to work with you.
